Bargain Boomer
This was the strangest buy I ever had on the bay.
It was in 2000 when I found this auction on eBay. Starting bid was around 100DM. I was interested as the model look quiet OK, not to abused. The shipping info was missing so I asked via mail how much the charge would be in case I got the highest bid. There was no reply and finally I let the auction pass by for this reason. No one bid on the car, too. A few days later I got an call from our secretary saying that a package got delivered addressed to my name. Strange I thought, I did not await any packages delivered to my companies address. Went down to the main hall were she sat and picked up 'my' package. From the size and weight I guessed it could be an RC-Car. As I opened it the Boomerang from the auction was there, in a good runners state. Wondering what happened I mailed that guy again asking him about his intentions, explaining him that I only asked for the shipping costs and so on. His reply was something like, yes, it's OK, I've sent you the car. No explanation why nor he asked for money etc. Confused I replied again about payment but got no repsonse anymore.
Well, there it was... a car for free.
As I had a lot of spares left from my Boomerang-Racer and that model was my first Tamiya ever I decided to give it a full restore. Was fun and the result reminded my of that glorious moment in 1988, when I finished my first Boomerang. :-)

Wow... Nice story and I wouldn't mind some of that luck of yours. Boomerang was, and still is, my favourite RC car - Hope this gets a re-release!
