My entry for the photo competition; This is a picture I took last year when visiting the Shasta National Forest in northern California. In the background you can see the dormant volcano cone that is called 'High Hole Crater'.
(For Google Earth types, that would be 41°30'35 N by 121°31'50 W ;) )
In the foreground you can see the porous lava rock that covers some 30 sq. kilometers in the area around the cone.



Not a bad place to run an XC or crawler -- Just mind the rocks: They are sharp and made of glass!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments -- I really did have a great time taking these pictures. It's a beautiful place to be if you appreciate these kind of things. Geology is neat!
