Here's a simple way to mount an ABS body on your latest scaler project. This was inspired by the velcro body mounts on my Robbe Jeep TA01, which were implemented by member Gazwilts.

You need: some PVC cable trunking, usually sold by the metre at DIY stores; some thick plasticard (or nylon or delrin block); some araldite; some plastic cement.

On my model, I drilled some holes in the delrin chassis spacers at the front and rear of my K2-3S chassis, and used self-tappers to attach some PVC trunking to the chassis. Any method of attaching PVC to chassis will work here. You don't actually have to use the PVC as a base - I did because it was convenient, easy to cut and drill.

You need to make spacer blocks out of plasticard to raise the body to its correct height. The width of the strips should be such that it fits tightly between the PVC trunking rails. Glue the strips together with plastic cement. When lining up your height, remember to allow the extra thickness of your top PVC mount on top.

When your body is at the right height and the cement has dried, cut a length of PVC and press it over the spacer block that you've made. It should grip securely. Place on your body and check it lines up properly.

If your body isn't perfectly flat (probably under the hood), cut some thin strips of plasticard and glue them to the top of the PVC to space it out until it fits snuggly to the underside of the body.

When you're absolutely happy with the fit, mix up some araldite and paste it over the PVC. A nice thick layer works best because it will form to the shape of the body. Take your body and press it onto place. Make sure that the body is lined up properly before weighting it in place.

When the araldite has cured, turn the body over and add some plastic cement around the edges of the PVC to body join. This adds extra strength as the PVC becomes chemically bonded to the ABS.

Enjoy your newly-made Invisible Body Mounts!

Available from B&Q, or other DIY stores PVC screwed to delrin, plasticard cemented to PVC The mount is good and strong - an effort to remove Neat and out of the way when mounted Use plasticard strips to space under the hood Finished project looks like this Nice :)

Nice project! Glad you found a way of mounting bodies Which I'd say is not that easy. For the front of mine I use an alloy rod mounted to the chassis and a self-made fitting on the body that holds telecom wire clips so the body clips on and off. Thanks for sharing tips
