SRB Ball Diff
Inspired by TA-Mark's thread about bevel gear diffs for SRB using the original final gear, I set to work designing a viable alternative to the criminally expensive Thorp & similar ball diffs.
I had previously made a start on this some time ago after a conversation with CherryBomb (where did you go Chris ? :( ) so the basic design of parts only needed a little rework to fit the nylon final gear.
I still need to find a good source of 8mm OD belleville springs for the preload, but everything else is coming together nicely. As of today, I have the outdrive plates machined (only one pictured) & the hubs turned off of the final gear. The thrust races are outsourced.
All that is left now is to machine the inner race cup, face the final gear & fit the ball cages, assemble & test.
If all this proves to be viable, I may be able to offer a small number of these for sale.
EDIT: I have a total of 8 brand new final gears available to me for this, plus a few used (only suitable subject to inspection).

Looks nice. Maybe it would also be good to make a How to guide like TA-Mark? It looks a bit less complicated to build (though I could be wrong) and it would really make a nice sollution to the few vintage ball diffs out there
