This the project I wanted to do when the FJ body was released but it took me awhile, wanted a stock looking FJ like my real one was. This is still a work in progress as I am making up an Scollins interior to fit. I had to stretch the wheelbase very slightly as the FJ body is slightly longer than a pajero but shorter than a Touareg, and I found the 4 links and skid plate already made on ebay. (I just found out they are made by a very skilled guy named Rich on scale4x4rc.us) I Modded some hummer wheels like I usually do. Fitted a Dinky RC aero roof rack from rpp hobby and various little details. I cut the whole front of the chassis off and made some frame rails out of wood and then fitted a cut up clod bumper and WW2 winch and some mecano toy brackets to make skid plate and body mounts etc. Still much to do but I wanted to see what people thought. Thanks for looking.

Cool Pajero. Great looking FJ you got there! Excellent paint job and a very nice color. Nice details in the front, the clod bumper and ww2 winch looks superb under the toyota grille. Top job!

Great stuff Seth, I’m in the middle of fitting a FJ body on a TA chassis at the moment and I’ll be very happy if it looks half as good as this, the roof rack looks brill.

how much travel do you get with those tires on it. i had to jack up the body on queso pretty high and put stoppers in the shocks so they wouldnt bottom out and i think these are bigger than the crazy crawlers.

Looks sweet already. What are the tyres you used?

Wyoming

7-Nov-2008

Actually C I have the stock amount of articulation but smoother in the back with new links. I think these prowlers are actually .25 smaller than the Krazy krawlers these are same size as the slingers.

Wyoming

7-Nov-2008

The tires are RC4wd 1.9 Prowlers

i think you are right, i think it is the tires you have on the blue landrover that are bigger. makes more sense now. in the one angle the spare looked bigger and threw me off.

Wyoming

The rc4wd tires are confusing now lol! The creepers on my Landy are also this size, but the stompers and crushers are bigger like the krawlers

I'm not sure who made the rear end parts Dale but they worked really good, the feller that made them did nice work and I'll also probably copy them for some other Xcs

You've done it again!! What an insparation you are to us all. This is one of the most realistic Fj's around. Ever thought of appplying for as job with Mr tamiya? You produce a better range of models than the factory! Thanks for providing us with such superb models.

Great work again Seth - Perfect place for the new PS-56. I also like the use of the Meccano bits Curious about the 4-link damper mounts though: How exactly are they fixed to the axle?

Wyoming

8-Nov-2008

Thanks guys, I could explain Steve but I'll just add two more photos of how the guy made these nice brackets, I modded them a little for my truck but they were quite clever and nicely made.

OCD

8-Nov-2008

OK thanks Seth - I see the mounts are fixed in the front where the lower links are, but nothing in the rear? So what keeps the brackets from twisting on the axle? (Sorry to ask so many questions, but I like the clean look of this setup and would like to do something similar if possible.) -Steve

Wyoming

8-Nov-2008

Howdy Steve, they are made from really stiff metal. One long 3mm bolt passes up through the lower link then a cone washer then the bracket plate then the axle, then another cone washer and finally the upper link topped with a lock nut making a very secure sandwich. The plate sits flat against the axle in the little channel which is molded in for the usual stock plastic lower links to rest under it.

Well done Seth, looks lovely! I also bought this body when it came out for a scale (with TA02 chassis) project, but didn't found the time to start buiding. Maybe this gets me started!

Incredible. Looks AMAZING. Your trucks always nail the scale look and attitude of real trail vehicles. That is the kit Tamiya should have released. Can't wait to see the interior. You can tell by the long list of comments how much people like it. So how does it run?

Wyoming

10-Nov-2008

Thanks fellers and I must say it ran quite nicely today, I'll be posting some pics shortly.
