Box Art Classic
Got this off ebay in 2002 and just got around to restoring it. It's been painted with Tamiya colors and gone over with automotive clear coat for extra shine. Colors used were Tamiya TS-12 Orange and TS-7 Racing White, which has a slight cream color to it. Oddly, the original RR assembly manual doesn't indicate paint color codes (at least the one I have doesn't). Instead, it simply lists orange and white as the colors, but with no codes. I found the paint codes listed on a RR spare body box. Some folks use a whiter white than the Racing White, but it's a personal choice. I like the vintage look of the Racing White. Lot of work but well worth it! More at www.rcgrabbag.com.

That is pretty, I think once again, someone has beat me on their resto turnaround. I take forever to do anything. I do have some racing white here and have used it for some driver's suits on a project. I know exactly what you mean about the 'cream' color since I primed it white before taping and masking. If you have any spare front tires, can I trade you for them?

Just lovely, i'm trying to complete a new build rough rider project. I've also ordered the box art alloys from rad22rad. I still have a lot to search and buy but in 1 week time i have found a lot of new stuff for it. A complete gearbox except a motor, rear guard, pipe joints, motor and gear cover, front and rear wheels/tires, chassis plate, triangle chassis plate, front suspension, steering rods and everything is brand new and still NIB but it did cost me a fortune I'm very happy that i know a guy who has a brand new radiobox for me (but it's missing the receiverbox) and he also has a unpainted complete rough rider bodyset

Very nice. I thought one painted light before dark on a hard body. You proved that wrong!

Yeah, normally you would paint that way, but without going into a lot of detail, masking seemed harder if I did it that way, especially around the front where the white is a very thin line. The white didn't have any problem covering the orange.
