The Wild One is one of the more 'realistic' buggies Tamiya ever made. I had one as a kid as well. But I didn't really like it back then. There was too much trouble with the rear (hex style) drive shafts, they wore out quickly and fell out all the time... It also seemed to be a rare car, few had it. Most opted for a Grasshopper, Hornet etc.

About this shelf queen:
Super wide alu wheels front/rear with sand/paddle tires, spaced out
Stabilizer bars front and rear (no idea where they come from, but seem 'manufactured')
Wild One engraved plate in the rear (also very professionaly made!)

Bought of ebay/US

(Was a runner, but will be a shelf queen now)

Dirtburners wing added - will post new pics!

Update 9.12.2010: New pics posted, with the alu rear wing. Hope you like it!

Your gearbox will pass out with those wheels, certainly looks different.

How about those stabilizers? Are they custom made?

The rear wheels fit OK, but what the heck are those 'RIESEN' front wheels doing on this wonderful car? Looks very good and clean though.

Hey, SHY, great to see you on TC. And good to see your nice cars! I hope to see you next summer for more Vintage Races, I'm all in, if you are.

I bought it as is. Just added the Dirtburners wing (no pics yet). The bars look like they are bought and not home made, but I'm not sure...

Hey Lars! Of course we'll organize a new meeting!!! :-D

As to the wheels the picture does lie a bit, they're the same size as the rears. And with paddle rear tires you need 'rudder' front wheels for good steering in sand :-D
