1/12 Peerless Otaki 1972 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 455 HO
Here is a rare blast from the past. Peerless / Otaki made this motorized kit in 1974. Electrics hide inside the built engine and driveshaft turns a diff inside the scale rear end. Batteries hide inside the gas tank. Kit also has working headlights and tailights. This gem even came with cast metal Pontiac Honeycomb wheels. Rarer than rare, later re-issues from Otaki deleted electrics and Doyusha kits deleted the cast wheels. I aquired this kit from the original owner who paid $39.95 for it in 1974. He opened it for inspection, and then resealed it. It remained sealed until I bought it in 2007. The earliest Otaki kits were manufactured in partnership with Peerless. How would this body look on a vintage Tamiya chassis?

this is insane! Incredible nice kit.

Don't ever try to abuse the body alone!.
You can perfectly fit Rc into the complete kit and hide all electrics. Never ever break it up.
This is a beauty as it is. I am speechless!

You are right Kokuzu! But one can always dream. Thanks for the response, Tim D......

You are right. But in this case, Insane is a good thing. What makes these so special is that not many Muscle Cars were well modeled in this scale. You have to admit that it would make an incredible Vintage RC project.

Thanks scoobybooster! I've seen some of your work and think you could do a great build on one of these (not this one though!). Tim D.....

Very cool mate!

Really nice car. I would like a Pontiac Firebird Esprit body to do a rockford files replica .

That would take some serious scratch building. New nose and tail, not to mention handpainted graphics. Find a donor kit and go for it!
Road Burner
Good find!

Thanks Road Burner! I have a soft spot for Pontiacs. I'm from Pontiac, and my Mom used to build GTO's at Plant 8. Maybe I'll build this one and bring it to the next Dream Cruise?
