A few friends have requested some pics from the build and I’ll try to explain what’s done.

What’s done:

- Weathered look (see excellent “how to” in 7.2inchdriver’s showroom)

- Sanded the outside of body for a flat paint job

- Mounted extra headlights from a Grasshopper

- Painted front light inserts black

- Polished headlight glass and window decals with toothpaste for a mild flat look

- Driver's window half way open

- Weathered side mirrors glued into body

- Clodbuster sticker in rear window

- Dirt on windscreen after wipers

- Windscreen wipers carved out of toothpicks

- Mounted exhaust pipe pointing a little to the side

- Custom painted rims with whiteside tires

- Antenna with ball made from my wife’s pearl necklace

- Mesh grille made out of a rusty steel utensil (thanks for learning me that word CASE1)

- 'N' (for Norway) national sticker in rear window

- Custom built roof rack

- Worn out spare wheel and spring on roof rack

- Skies made of an aluminum lunch box on roof rack

- Bungee cords to hold objects on roof rack on place (see “how to” in 7.2inchdriver’s showroom)

- Helmet on roof rack (used the dremel to cut away Frank Evan’s face)

- VW sticker from original decal sheet in front window

- Weathered 'R'-logo on right side. Painted on the outside by free hand and wetsanded carefully.

If there’s any unaswered questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I have learned so much by asking my fellow TC members.

rust and white color has been applied Masking for the dirt outside the wipers Toothpick wipers mounted the 'correct' way Old worn out BMW EVO rims reborn in new colors Making the realistic roof rack mounting Skies made out of an aluminum lunch-box Easy way to make a box for the roof rack Just remove the face and voilà! In desperately need of more work space!

thanks for the mention and glad to see someone use my technique, but my how to doesnt do this justice, this is fantastic and the little details are pure genius. i will definately be using some of these ideas on my next weathered beater. hope this encourages people to do more of these. too many shiny lexan bodies out there.

That's what it's all about, getting ideas and helping each other to try out new things. I had a brainstorm and made a long list of things I wanted to do with this car, and along the way I found out how to do things by looking at other builds. I will definitively make a second weathered beater!

WILD WILLY: The roof rack fixings are bent 90 degrees and glued to the roof on the inside with epoxy.

The idea of using the utensil should be credited you CASE1. I have been looking in your 'how to''s for insperation. This is also the build we were e-mailing about using wheel spokes as railing, but I found an other solution in the end And finally, my wife got me a dictionary for christmas...LOL!

Thanks for sharing this great build. Can you tell me how you did the whiteside tires please?

I used a hobby paint for rubber on the tires. Applied it with a brush and a steady hand. It's like tire lettering. But I think it is more for show than go. It will crack if you run it too much.
