HUMMER'S COUSIN
Found NIB on a french website. 3 home-made black PVC plaques are glued in the front. Upper one has blocks of soft rubber foam glued on it, and goes with the body. Lower ones are extensions of underguard, to protect shocks from stones. (Simply never could imagine the LAV without these protections: It seems uncomplete, like “naked”…) Other plaques, made of thinner PVC are glued near the wheels to protect internal elements from dust, water projections….and especially indiscreet looks: Realism first…
Body/chassis 4 point attachement system was transformed to a 2 point one, based on 2 omega-type clips (and so the 4 original holes on the body were filled).
The biggest job was to make realistic transparent green windows.
Then I had the strange idea of adding some luminous effects that could simultaneously show this job I’m so proud of…
But one of my rules in RC modelling is: NEVER have to connect/disconnect anything when assembling/disassembling the body.
For this reason, body attachements on the chassis are also electric contacts. I made wheel removal easier by gluing their caps, after drill 8mm diameter holes in them, to access the nut. The other advantage is the impossibility of losing caps. It will be perfect with small ordinary 8mm caps to close the holes.
