I couldn´t get my fingers off the car yesterday, so i did my best on cleaning the whole car up. Body was disassembled, washed, cleaned and polished up to high gloss. All body parts were added and some decals i didn´t like were removed. Paintjob is very nice, much better than i expected first, only roof and one side are rather rough. A complete stripdown isn´t necessary at the moment, but i still plan to restore the body in the future ( better said : let restore by a friend ). Chassis was also disassembled, cleaned and slightly straightened as the front area was bent a little bit. New tires were also added. Soon i want to add period radio gear to make the chassis look less naked

Well done Michael. Now you have one of the Tamiya Collectors Dream Cars in your collection. Sure Olli will do a good job of the body resto for you. Take care of it. Cheers

Hi Rad - looks like you can read my mind

Great idea with the period radio gear !! Your resto already looks perfect on the pictures, but it would be a honour to work on such a piece of RC history.

Now I will cry myself to sleep tonight as well, what DID you use to polish that? it wasn't beaten up, but it was used and the top was scratched! Lovely job - don't over restore it, use some of the repro decals and keep it like that, but add the radio gear. Keep well,Paul.

Hi Paul ! I washed the whole body with Persil liquid washing gel and dried it with a towel . Then i grinded the rough roof area with already used Scotch-Brite which isn´t as aggressive as a new one . Paint became quite smooth (?) and then i tried Autosol chrome polish for make it shine again. But it´s quite agressive and makes the paint dull .... I was shocked and quickly tried MOS2 Oil which was also not helpful. I then took an old black BIC permanent marker and added some black paint on the roof and polished it with a dry towel carefully until the plastic and paint became warm. Turned out better than expected - but there´s still some rough structure visible on the roof. I really don´t know if i should restore or leave as it is. But i´ll definitely add radio gear soon ! Thanks to you all for your kind words !!
