M-02 Beetle with a Nice Surprise - NOW IN RESTORED
Came across this during my daily Tamiya search on eBay. It was listed quite badly (just “Beetle” I think), so sold for a bit of a bargain.
First off, that body. What are these people thinking? It’s painted both inside and out, seemingly without plan or artistic merit. The outside white bits are particularly horrifying. Why? Still, I’ll get another.
It’s got full radio gear, there’s not much scratching on the bottom, but the best thing is the motor: a proper Technituned – I put a battery across it and it’s in fine fettle. Should make this Beetle fly!
So a light restoration and a ball bearing set and this baby should be a nice little runner.

Perhaps the original owner was going for a 'rat look' Beetle, or perhaps they were just completely rubbbish with a spray can.

Rat look it, paint the wheels in rust paint as well to complete the look.

i second that, go the rat look route, new chrome tree and paint them wheel red (bar the centers of course)

Lucky devil, I think the rat look would suit it well.

The auction actually stated 'techipower' motor Oh the beauty of finding badly listed items....The car was free, the motor was a bargain too!

That's a very similar paint job to the one on the mini body that came with my M01! Why do people try and paint polycarbonate bodies with the wrong paint?!
