Traxxas Rustler 2006: Updated to 2009 looks!!!
Brought this off ebay for just $46. It was not the most attractive looking car..Certainly nothing scale looking about it...
Came semi-dismantled, but everything was there except the Transmitter. It has seen a good innings, but with a little TLC was back in action.
When I put it all back together and gave it a run around the yard...a large plume of grey smoke came out of the yellow XL-5 ESC....which explained the 50% performance...
Dropped in my blue XL-5 (recently removed from my Slash) and off it went.
Upgraded the wrecked rear bushings with new housings and bearings and its running great. Its hilarious to drive.
You can corner it at full speed and it goes on three wheels with the inner front in the air...A lot less skill required to keep it on the ground, unlike the Slash that'll flip on demand...
April: Upgraded the front bushings to bearings now. Also will be adding the waterproof receiver casing, to hold a new 2216 4-channel receiver (same found in Slash).
Will likely race this soon at our local track.
UPDATE 6/7/2009
Gave this car a big facelift. New Rustler body that is so much more sleek and agressive looking than the old ugly duckling.
New Black Chrome VXL front and back wheels.
RPM rear bumper and Motor Guard added.
Brand new stock 12T 550 motor added (the old one had to be pulled to go on the slash that burned out).
Of course, on my first run on the street, I rolled it and hit a curb, so its scratched up allready...but still looks like the dogs you know whats...
