SRB Slipper Clutch
The Mad Professor has been at it again... Modded so I could run the MambaMax 4600Kv in the Super Champ. Slipper clutch helps to take the shock out between a very punchy motor and the driveline.
Pictured is a DF03 Slipper Clutch and 0.5mm pinion fitted to a SRB mainshaft. 78T spur and 23T pinion and the mesh is perfect. 0.5mm gears are slightly quieter running than 0.6mm and 0.8mm.
Adjustments are made by using different thickness shims. The hex screw in the end of the shaft is done up tight and the spring needs to be shimmed to give the right pressure. All in all it works very well.
This does not fit inside the standard gearcover. I have dremeled the centre of the SRB gearcover out and fitted a clear smoke DF03 slipper cap. It looks factory being the same plastic and that's what really matters.
Similar to the SRB Bevel Gear Diff, this mod uses all Tamiya parts from different models modified slightly to work together.
Usable ratios with DF03 0.5mm module:
23T/78T - 6.78:1 FDR
19T/82T - 8.63:1 FDR
Comments welcome. No sorry, I'm not interested in making them to sell!

Nice neat job mark.

Aha!! So *that's* how you did it I hadn't even seen a DF03 slipper, Iwas considering machine new hubs for the existing spur, basically making all the parts from scratch, but your idea makes much more sense using off the shelf parts. Nice one mate.

And i was happy with my sport tuned in my Super Champ ... until now. Nice job!

@koenc: It's not a matter of speed (even though it will do it), it's how smooth the motor runs and how long it runs on the battery. With the ESC tuned to match the chassis it sees almost a 2hr runtime on a 4000mAh Li-Po in the Super Champ driving in a scale manner.

This looks very ineresting! Would you recommend to install this even if you only drive a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor?

Hiya Mark, I Just Bought a Team Associated B4/T4 Gear Cover Clear,, Part No #7461 - And happily it was Quite a good match for your Slipper Convo Used on The SRB Casing, Not Quite There Yet but if I use the Associated Plate as well I might even get it to seal Properly,, Just trying to add to your Great Idea, Thanks from Danny.
