Originally run into the ground back in 1994, I found this beetle still at my parents house (didn't know they had it) and thought about giving it a go repairing it! (OH THE JOYS TO BE HAD......). Stripped, de-greased (took bloody ages coz it was cacked in mud), full chassis rebuild using original parts!
Custom one-off paint mix for the shell consisting of a burgandy/copper mix with plenty of metallics/pearls thrown in!
The shell was an original white which had 3 structural damage point the most notorious being the off-side rear which had snapped off completely!
A bit of glue, a plastic weld and some filler sorted this out!
The chassis has a custom paint mix of blue/silver as the original red one was faded with sun damage (plus it had scuffs which have been sanded off)!
The wheels were scuff damaged on the outer rim, so these were again sanded, then painted alloy silver to replicate a split-rim effect. (I will be applying this technique again in different colour combo's so keep posted on my projects!).
The stickers are replica's which go well with the shell colour but I found very fiddly to apply.
Just need to spray the windscreen wipers to finish the shell & then need a few bits to finish the chassis....95% complete!

Custom re-spray (shell on tempory chassis) Wheels have been refinished in a split-rim effect! Full frontal shot! 10 different metallics /pearls went into the mix! This had broke off (good job I know what Im doing) Back to new (hurrah!) Another crack... sorted! This is the proper chassis... custom painted in a light silvery blue!

A lot of time & effort sanding the damaged rims (filling one of them) then masking round the inner wheel & spraying the rim alloy silver!

Please note that this is the first R/C car I have built & painted (back in the day I think I bought it newly pre-built)! So any tips on restoring these would be appreciated!
