My Crash Test Dummy - Takashi
Good day gentlemen, I need a right hand side driver in white so I decide to paint one. I named him Takashi because I figured he might be driving alot of Japanese imports.
This is the eBay brand 1/10 cockpit which coincidently, I bought it on eBay. This cockpit is actually not bad except the helmet is little out of scale so I decide to put a Tamiya helmet on instead. The body come as a clear shell which it was better than the Tamiya version IMO. The set also come with many accessories which I managed to added them to my cockpit even though I have no clue what they are lol...
I decide to painted matt black for the base instead of gloss is for photo reasons (more realistic would be semi-gloss) . I want the car's body line to be the focal point plus this put a spotlight on the driver's details. I also shaded the driver's legs to give a more depth and realism (the model came as a flat piece). The insturment panels do light up and I add little details here and there such as the safty harness and carbon fiber seats.
Please enjoy and I hope you like, if you dont. that's okay. my mom said I might have a career in automotive bodyshop business.
If you liked those pictures, you should see these...

Very nice - I've seen these on eBay and was curious about the actual quality of them.. and I have to say these look darn good! You're paint work isn't too bad either
Crash Cramer
I like your version best. I think you should send your photo into the seller on eBay so they can sell some more. Perhaps a bit more information on who is selling these. Your work is very nice, I think your mom wants you to change careers.

Thank you gents: Brother OCD I think they are pretty good substitute for the Tamiya version. The HPI and Yokomo version just can't compare. @ Brother Crash Cramer: I wouldn't do that lol I'm waiting for the price to drop! LOL~

BTW Gents, the safty harness is sculpted really bad... same with the leg details.

Wow! You did a superb job! Even the little lines on the driving suit, not to mention the 'leg fade'. SPECTACULAR! You've upped the ante again, and I'll have to do much better painting my next Scollins interior. That is REALLY NICE!

I have to ask, how DID you do the small black lines on his driving suit?! It's just amazing! Your paint job is so much better than the one in the ebay ad...

Thank you gents for the kind word. Brother JC, send me the R33 and we can work something out Brother Skottoman, I use a 'triple O' sable brush to do all my line work. The reason to outline in black is to make the driver 'pop out' more when inside the car. This method is not realistic but rather, stylized.

Love the interior (especially with the LEDs). Illuminating the dash never even occurred to me before! It's going into my favorites, and the idea might well be borrowed for something in the future. Thanks!
