I have been after one of these kits NIB for ages, it was my first ever R/C Car/Buggy back in 1984 . I thought getting one in NIB condition was never going to happen as the prices for these kits were way over priced for me . Last year a NIB was selling on Ebay for $900.00, then late last year $1200.00, then this year $1400.00 I had given up hope, crazy prices for a kit that originally sold back in the day for $99.00 . Anyways I was on Ebay last week looking for parts for my latest Fast Attack Vehicle purchase. I typed in the magic words Tamiya Fast Attack Vehicle and was amazed at the prices of the parts I needed for my latest project, $115.00 for a 'A' parts tree 'Like yer right' Iam gonna pay that for the top Battery box I need ,dream on , I scrolled down the list looking at outrageous prices and saw what looked like a picture of a NIB at the bottom of the page, didnt even bother looking as I thought the price would have been out of the realm of reality, turned to the wife and said the parts I need for my FAV project are going to cost a small fortune. She said show me what parts you need so I scrolled down the page showing her the prices of things, her jaw dropping as I did. I got to the bottom again and saw that picture of the Fast Attack Vehicle not bothering to scroll down the rest of the page and my wife said whats that pointing to the picture of the FAV. I said I thinks it a Fast Attack Vehicle NIB lets not even go there as the parts are crazy prices I shudder to think what a NIB is fetching now ...She said can I look so I scrolled down said yer Ill show you what a NIB looks like I will never own one Scrolled to the bottom again and saw this FAV NIB from a well known R/C seller in Japan looked along for the price and saw BIN US $535.00 looked again price still the same clicked on it rubbed my eyes price still the same read listing ..by this stage my palms getting sweaty FAV NIB Rare BIN US $ 535.00 ,Looked at wife, Wife looked at me before I could get a word out she said press the BIN so I did she jumped on her computer and transferred funds into Paypal account . I sat there and thought it must have been a typo in the price thinking the seller would not sell it to me , My mind flashed to an Ebay conversation I had with Ebay live where the Ebay rep said if you press the BIN on something and pay the seller cannot back out its a done deal .So there I sat looking at an Ebay page with this auction has ended early with a BIN and my username beside it . My dream came true I have a NIB FAV it arrived today in the post and its exactly how I remember it, yummy blister packs, everything in sealed bags NEW yer the box lid is a little crumpled but I have 2 other FAV boxes without crumpled lids,I would not have gotten this if my wife didnt say show me what a NIB looks like or if she had not said press thst BIN button. This price is roughly what it would be at with inflation prices today perhaps the seller was trying to clear old stock whatever the case was I was as they say Johnny on the spot Iam pretty sure if I has hesitated or come back an hour later it would have been gone . Anyways thats my story I how I obtained this NIB FAV .The moral of this story is dont give up on a dream they do come true. (Not For Sale Or Trade) Comments Welcome.

Thanx guys for your comments ,I still remember cracking open this kit back in 1984 I was 16 and I thought back then what a pain in the behind these blister thingies are cutting them open and parts going everywhere, had my Nan on the ground with a magnet trolling for parts,I have since learnt that the best way to tackle those blister thingies are from the bottom ,But I was young and foolish I wanted the kit built yesterday back then

I've heard that if you open a NIB more than once a month and drool all over it, it looses value quicker.
I guess we will find out in 6 months when you've opened the box for the hundredth time.
I know it's nice to look at and you love the smell of a NIB but you're going to wear it out without even touching it.
You are such a lucky bugger, not only in being Johny on the spot but by having such a great wife as Diane who supposrts your hobby.
Good on ya, mate!

Great story Stuart (again!) That's a great price.
I built mine in on the floor of the hotel room in Hong Kong with a set of watch screw drivers I'd made my parents buy me on the way back from the hobby store. I was sooooo excited. I don't remember the blisters in the box, but I think I might still have scars from the blisters those bloody screw drivers gave me.

Great Kit!Love it...I guess I 've seen exactly this kit from our well known japan-seller from about a year ago when I was looking for a NIB myself. He had two of them, one for about 550$ and one with a perfect box for about 100 bucks more.Nobody bid on them for a long time then suddenly they were gone...Maybe this is one of yours now Have fun with it!
