Now that Tamiya is re-releasing the '93 Monte Carlo Castrol Celica, I thought it was a good time enter these into my showroom.
From what I understand, the re-re is going to be a new 'DF03RA' chassis, with the original body kit, and 'two driver figures included'. Sounds promising - as I have enjoyed my TB01 Celica immensely, and the DF chassis sounds like a similar, if not better performing variant. Yay for Tamiya keeping the Celica Rally heritage alive! On the other hand, it saddens me is seeing the old TA chassis quietly joining the annals of Tamiya history.
The TA02 setup may have been lacking offroad prowess, but with their dust-resistant gearboxes and simple design, these cars were durable and FUN!

Great cars Steve, not sure why but the Celica was always my favorite Rally machine, I just like the looks and I used to drive an Old Celica when I was younger.

Great find,I did the same when I heard some times ago from my local rc shop the car will be re-realise.This TA01-02 series have a strange parcour.They are abordable till the re-realise comes.I think this has all to do with those marveillous boxes (size and colours) and indeed with the rallye minded TA series.I have some of these rally series and when you put the boxes next to, you obtain a unique and beatifull combination.The size is also tipical for this years when 'prize compressing' to all level wasn't the norm.Inside the show goes on with beautifull colours and blisters.Tamiya's at his best.
