I like this model so much, but it's been a PITA to get it back to good working condition. I sold my Bang & Olufsen reel to reel recorder to fund this purchase. It was pretty much a mistake. This truck was a complete disaster. Anyway, I dismantled everything, polished the frame, and changed parts, after parts, after parts. Despite being offered as a 'complete-working the last time it was used' not even the radio was in working conditions! :-( BUT, right now it's running good, and the only missing parts are the black rubber shock boots. So it's pretty complete. Oh, and yes. That is a 1993 Mountaineer body. I just can not afford the original body for this one. If anybody has a broken Bruiser rear bead-cab for sale or trade just let me know. I would love to have a chance to correct this horrible modification that Tamiya did when they released the Mountaineer in the early 90's.

Erich, If you really don't want this body, well I better put my name on it now. I wonder where your NEW 3 speed version of the Bruiser is in pictures. Glad you were able to join in all the fun. I have some bits, will see what they are and send them along.

Aah the coveted Bruiser! Nice beauty Bro! I still need to grow a set of bigger balls and try to grow more dollar notes to start acquiring these beasts! Amazing how these have jumped in value either used or NIB, esp NIB! When I was inquiring for values, almost gave a me multiple cardiac arrests! Lols

@sunnyjai: Well, for a minute I thought I'd have the chance to buy a new body for it (now that the re-re is about to hit the hobby stores around the globe), but it happens that the new body will be a High-Lift with the extra cab. You have to buy the body, special paint, and two other trees to get the thing that used to be one piece of perfectly white Tamiya plastic. Wonders why they can't get things right anymore
Anyway, this rubbish ''Mountaineer'' body was finally corrected a couple of years ago. Have a look here: [Click here]

And its quite intruiging that what I mention a few times about Bruiser owners who either bend head over heels, sell their kidneys, or their wives or pets, rob a bank, and in your case sold a much loved Bang Olufsen recorder perhaps to acquire these majestic beast disregarding if it's a Bruiser, Mountaineer etc! Lols I had to sacrifice buying much needed new dampers for my car to get a Bruiser! My missus just shook her head as she's never seen this side of me until I got back into the hobby last year! It's all good, for me a Mountaineer body is nice in fact I prefer it to the cab version to be honest...
mongoose1983
@sunnyjai: Well, it's a matter of tastes. The Bruiser's fiberglass cab represents much better what was exciting about 4x4 pick-ups back in the day when mud bog races were ''in''. For me. I prefer the Bruiser over the Mountaineer. It's a model truck that just 'takes me back'. And that's what I am after when getting almost anything, in this case a model car.
sunnyjai
Either way, anything Bruiser, Mountaineer, Blazing Blazer, Hi-Lux etc are the dog's kahunas of Tamiya kits! Yeah baby!
mongoose1983
@sunnyjai: You're 100% right, but ermmmm, to put things in perspective, If I had two Mountaineer bodysets with a smile on my face I'd swap them for a Bruiser one. Matter of taste that is
sunnyjai
Yes I agree, good to have the best of both worlds then all is perfect!

That really is a top looking truck, after much sacrifice on your part. The end result is very good.

@besty22: Thanks for the compliments. This truck now has the rear cab, and 1981 grill.
