How To Prep & Refurbish A Monster Beetle Windscreen
If a Monster Beetle has been driven hard during its life, the windscreen is prone to scuffs, scratches & worst of all cracks! You might think that if a windscreen is cracked it is fit for the bin, well no! You can repair this damage by 'hiding' it underneath all sorts of different material like mirrored card or film but I find the easiest way to repair the windscreen is to paint it! The example below has been painted in flat black to resemble privacy glass. Now you might think this is a bit of a no-brainer and truthfully it is, but here is my guide anyway & to get a half-decent effect please read on...

If you want it very shiny use gloss black and laquer it will be more like a mirror

You can always fine sand after the laquer & polish to make it more shiny if you desire. This windscreen was painted in solvent based black automotive paint that was leftover from a job (so I didn't even spend on the paint, lol!)

I banished a genie inside there to keep him out of mischief as I had run out of lamps! That Monster Beetle is now cursed, IF HE TAKES YOUR PHOTO HE TAKES YOUR SOUL....

I've tried before to glue a cracked windscreen with Revell's liquid glue for plastics - it didn't work. What is that 'plastic weld' stuff you used and where can I buy it? Ta
Connor
The plastic weld glue in the photo that I used for this repair is 'SABA S3 PVC Glue' usually used for welding irrigation piping together but works great on any plastics really, especially the Monster Beetle shells I restore. You should be able to pick some up from [Click here]

Cheers Connor - I'll give it a go.
