brushless, carbon fiber, HPI baja 5b
this is an HPI baja 5b with carbon fiber everything and a brushless electric conversion. The conversion was built by mike cronin of RC monster. The motor is a neu 2215 750 kv motor on 10s lipo. it uses a castle creations Hydra 240 hv esc. The body, which i have not ran yet cause its so sweet, was painted by Tod kirby of TK customs.

Looks cool, but why woudl you want to make a excellent petrol buggy into electric?

brushless electics are way more powerful than on gas. my set up has 8 hp. A mod gas motor would be lucky to have 4 maybe 5 hp. there is no noise for the neighbors to complain about. and i dont have to worry about a hard starting, finicky running gas engine.

Awesome stuff, but we need some pics with the body fitted! A 5b without all the noise - fantastic!

WOW! So how does that run with the tarmac tires? Would love to see some shots with that body on there. That paint is amazing, work of art, no way I could ever do that!

Im getting about 30 minute run times. Its a blast to drive. the slicks are cool. when you punch it the tires spin untill they get hot and sticky, then it just flips over. I have only got to make one video of it that i put on you tube called HPI baja 5b brushless electric. it was filmed in my back yard and there wasnt enough space to open it up. but you can see how it runs. check out the roosts it leaves right off the line.
