My first RC restored
My first ever Tamiya RC and the car that got me back into the hobby after a few years off!
What I thought would be a nice easy restoration to do alongside the Rough Rider i'm on with turned out to be a bit of a challenge to say the least. Due largely to the nature of the plastic used for the construction of this body which, as many of you out there will know, is extremely tricky to paint.
Thanks to those TC members who's advice I took on board! I sanded and prepped the body, which prior to this was in a bad way, although the windscreen posts were intact, then primed it with Halfords plastic filler primer, excellent stuff that sticks like **** to this type of plastic, unlike my earlier attempts with normal primer! wet sanded, more primer, sanding then 3 coats of a Peugeot blue with sanding between each coat. Let it go off for a week, more sanding and then a clear coat which again i left for a few days and then polished with a tiny bit of Autoglym. Best part after all the painting was applying the decals, my own creation which I know a few people have bought, thanks for the feedback guys!
Chassis on this one was in fine shape, no cracks! full strip down and clean up is all that was needed. Original radio gear installed, 6v slab of a battery and it all works
I have another HB to restore and i'm very tempted to do a different theme with that one but not sure what

Great looking HB. This was my first car and the one that got me back in the hobby too. Thanks for the info about primer and paint job.

Looks great, like the detailing of the driver and good choice of colour as its v.similar to the original shell - though where's the rear metal bumper thingy?
