Escort RS Cosworth 'privateer' rally car
This was the car that got me back into RC. Bought for £90 secondhand in 1994, it had already been well-used (bodyshell was smashed at the front, plastic bearings shot), so I stripped it down and rebuilt it with ballraces and an Acoms AT5 ESC. The shell was too far gone to rescue properly, so I stitched it together with superglue and plastic card (and some glassfibre and wire rods behind the front bumper) and painted it from the outside in a 'privateer' rally scheme (sponsored by my dad's factory and the local Ford dealer). I later aquired a new bodyshell and decals, and got a spoiler sprue from the club shop. The original wheels were also tired, so it got a set of M3 mesh ones, which have recently been replaced with the 5-spoke split rims to fill the arches better. This was my usual runner, but I can't risk breaking it now TA01s are getting scarce, so it will be retired to the shelf.
