Right this is the last and final time that I shall list anything should the MODERATORS see fit to remove again without cause please may I have a refund and I shall leave thank you. Just some SRB parts I've had bead blasted. They are RC related and TAMIYA after all.
Thank you and GOOD NIGHT
The moderators are making this site nothing more than a charactureless picture gallery, no room for banter and exchange of view and ideas. This is related and of interest so what's the problem. if an endless stream of pictures of re re boxes is acceptable so why isn't this ???
Hi, the castings seem to have a 'smoothed surface'. Mine look to have been bead / sand blasted as well (difficult to say) but mine are textured NOT smoothed. You may be interested to check out the pictures and discuss this with me at ;- [Click here] . Best Regards, Alistair G.
Thanks for the comments and support guys. @ thelegos may be I've become to popular for my own good??????@ Mikef350 thanks mate. @ Slim you are quite new you'll learn@Crash my friend I believe silica beads but I shall find out exactly. I know its some aerospace stuff hahaha what a great explanation. @Mario yes better than NEW thank you my friend and many thanks for the email much appreciated Was ready to throw in the towel almost forgot that there is SOME great guys on here.
@ Live steam. Sand, Bead and Glass blasting will all give a different finish I would say though that SAND is a little harsh and would blow the parts away very quickly. I shall endeavour to find out the exact process and let you know although I know that the bottom of the gearboxes where rubbed down a little first to eliminate deep scratches. The pics seem to show them with a polished finish (Gloss) but the aren't I'd best describe them as a (Satin) finish.
Remove this vital piece of information - has the world gone mad??? We all strive to get the best job done on our restorations & the
bead blasting process your friend uses seems top notch! It makes sense to share this info & not keep it a dark secret known to only a few....
Should get a coat of heat proof clear on them to 'lock in' and preserve that fresh bead blasted appearance. Just give them a good wash in some thinners to remove any oils before painting. Unless of course you plan on getting some metal polished.
Wow, they look fantastic . A perfect base for plating too, if you were so inclined (I've always felt copper plated could look kind of cool with a box art blue/white shell).
Blimey, they look better than new!! Don't see what all the fuss is about, people should be chuffed members are going to these lengths to restore SRB parts.
Forgot to say: I am with You too mate - we see pics of newborn babies e t c, e t c (a wonderful thing b t w, don´t get me wrong) so I also can´t understand why these great looking parts were removed. Merry X-mas all!
A great BIG BIG thank you to all for the support and many many emails I received from people. Perhaps I did spit my dummy out (pacifier for you U.S guys ) but have to say of late its been getting a little silly on here. It should be a fun place where us guys with a common interest can share thoughts, ideas and pics of our models. Merry Christmas to all and to those that don't celebrate Christmas. Have a happy holidays.
Oh tobbe nice to see you got Tamiya topia on even if its your avatar. Please all you other guys take a look at it if that don't make you smile nothing will
