Bruiser Wrecker as featured in RC Car Action

I've owned this truck since new in 1986 and have pretty much ignored it for nearly 20 years. I loved the scale look of these kits which drew me to the Bruiser and dropped the big bucks back then to buy it NIB.
I decided to do something really different and mated a Clod Chevy cab to a custom fabbed rear wrecker bed for a very unique truck. Everything is made of Styrene and came out pretty nice I think.
The tires & wheels are Midnight Pumpkin which with a little machining to the wheels could be mounted to the stock Bruiser wheel hubs. Foam was definitely needed in the tires for this heavy beast.
The body now has 8 circuits that control 39 LED strobes and flashers which are turned on with the microswitches on the wrecker bed. All the lighting is on a 3V system contained in the body, so the body can removed easily.
Last winter I decided it needed some major TLC and did a total resto including a complete teardown of the chassis. Replaced all the fasteners with M3 SHCS, new ball bearings, LRP ESC, and acid washed and painted the complete chassis for more protection and scale appearance.
The pics below were some of my submissions to RC Car Action magazine for a 'Workbench' feature they did of the truck in July of 2009. What a thrill to have them do this!
I've since made more changes including a snow plow which I will detail in another showroom entry soon.
I would love to hear what everybody thinks. Thanks for looking.
UPDATE: Pic 9 shows the current body updates (strobe bar, etc.) with HPI Geolanders. The new front plow rig will be detailed in another entry - stay tuned...

Wow! Thanks all for the great comments guys.
The original Bruiser body is now on my second Bruiser chassis bought on e-bay last fall - also fully restored. I'll list this one in a separate showcase entry soon.
As I mentioned, there have been changes since the RC Car Action piece (last pic). I put HPI Geolanders on the stock rims and it looks much better, pics of these soon. The MP tires/wheels were added over 20 years ago, but I still think they work.

Greetings Norm,
welcome to TC and what a fine first showroom entry
You could apply to join many SIG`s but IMHO the 'Published members' SIG would be a good one,

It would be great if you could upload a little video/movie with all the lights too?
Looking forward to further updates etc.

Sweet build Norm, I've seen this one on Tamiyausa builders showcase a few times and wondered/hoped it would turn up on TC, as it is some of the nicest body work I've ever seen, and considering it was done back before the scale look was in like today very impressive! I really like the updated wheel tires too.

Wow, paul. That is what the article said your name was. The truck is amazing! I have never seen one like it before. you should be very proud. Great work and a spectacular truck.
scollins
Perfect--only thing I would do a little different would be to change the rims and tires to something a little more scale.
3SPD REKR
Thanks slimmy. Paul was the senior editor of RC Car Action. scollins - the HPIs helped with the scale look, but the wide Bruiser axles still trouble me. It is what it is in keeping the 3 speed chassis as stock as possible. Thanks again.

This is the best custom wrecker I have ever seen! You scould do a build thread on it on scale4x4 forum-they would have gone cracy over this for sure!! If you have build pics that is.. A masterpiece indeed! I think it look really cool with the MP wheels, a old skool look
