RC4wd Bruiser-ruptor Hilux flatbed build #2
Here is a few random shots of my current Bruiser (Rc4wd version) scale ranch truck truck project, I have a full build thread on scale4x4 but I wanted to have some build pictures in my TC showroom. (I will for sure have a lot of finished pictures here later) I have been working on the bed to take a break from the cab and chassis, I don't have a welder or brazing euipment but I wanted it metal so I have been using a propane torch and silver solder with mix of brass and copper parts and an oak plywood deck with steel strips. This is really a fun truck to build but I have so much left to do, anyway hope the pics are of interest or helpful.

Very very cool indeed.. not to keen on the large flat area at the back for the lights at the moment, dont see to many like that in australia, they tend to drop back and have the lights under the tray a little bit.

the bed looks great. micheals sells some different size mesh screens that would work perfect for bulkhead. let me know if you need some.

Thanks guys. style is pretty typical of local flatbeds in this area, they have large flat area at back to help keep small cars out from under in rear-end collisions. Sometimes they have a bumper hanging down if they don't have it built into the rear of bed. As for mesh thanks C, I have been looking all over for brass or copper screen I could solder on, I'll have to go check the Michaels or Hobby lobby in Cheyenne. I'm still deciding on what style of lights and how many I need to be road legal.

You're the one who drove me to begin my first Hilux scale i'm now working on. And i realize how difficult it is to do such a nice job.
Deep congratulations.

commercial spec tailights are the same as jeep lights on the back of the wranglers. also, if you have some extra lenses from the hilift you can dye them red for the three dot lights on the back.

Once again, great work and love the unique idea. It's obvious that you thoroughly study 1:1 examples to model, it shows. I thought I was strange shopping at hobby lobby & michaels, but I am now vindicated - thanks. For the scale screen, you might try window screen, if you can still find the metal type, otherwise find a way to use the nylon type.
Wyoming
Thanks guys, yeah I have a whole pile of Jeep lights, but I am also looking at round lights etc. I will recess them for a clean look whatever I decide on. I also found some screen at hobby lobby today which will work well.

Absolutely another winner!

Oh, that's a great build! Love this truck and the bed looks fantastic.... the wheels are soooo scale, great! How is this chassis from rc4wd? It just a 1 speed... I wonder, how it is to drive or even crawl... can you leave some notes??
Wyoming
RC4wd actually sell this chassis in many versions, a 3 speed just like original Bruiser with 2wd and 4wd, then as a 2 speed and then with the single speed like mine. I don't really do anything but slower trail driving with my trucks so I don't need 3 speeds. The chassis is a very good deal for all the metal parts and I like that unlike the original Bruiser these axles are the same length and accept many more wheel and tire options.
