MORE Pure ( Futaba ) Gold...! ! !
Futaba is my prefered radio manufacturer - and I have had for a long time a Gold FP-T3EGX car radio set that was supplied with a 27Mhz module fitted with a blue crystal...
I bought a 40Mhz module for it a few years ago - so as to be able to operate with less interference...
Amazingly, I recently met a local modeller that had the same transmitter sat doing nothing in his 'shop'.
His transmitter had no module as he had sold it - but that was no problem - as I have the 40Mhz 'spare' module...
A deal was done - and so I am now the proud owner of TWO Gold car transmitters...! :D
One is the original with the 27Mhz.module - the other is 'new' - and with my old 40Mhz. module.
The yellow battery is the original from the 'newer' transmitter. It will not accept a charge...
I removed the back of both transmitters to show my installation of home-made 8-cell batteries that I assembled from 750mah AAA NiMH cells.
The old AA nicad packs were only 500mah capacity.
If you liked those pictures, you should see these...

Brings back memories Keven, my dad had 1 of the Gold sets for his planes many moons ago. As it has a module and there are very cheap 2.4ghz modules for sale how novel would that be and should be 0 interference.

I love Futaba radios, specially the older ones like these. They work, feel, and look truly top-notch!

Thanks for the comments...
Biggus,
I am waiting for an old 4FG Gold radio to be delivered from America... which looks almost like these - but with gimballed sticks and lots of switches and knobs within.
That ought to accept a modern module ( it has an 'illegal' 72Mhz module ) - but as far as I can find out, there are no 2.4Ghz. modules that have 10 inline pins to suit this type of transmitter...
scaletamiya,
Which module have you with yours ?

Very cool and I spotted one tiny difference between the two, the placement of the 'Ripmax' decal. I can't say that I ever saw these here in the states, but I think I have seen some modules for sale at one point or another on ebay. If you have 'any' module frequency, they will take it and work correctly??? Very cool idea for back then and why can't they make them as good as they used to??? Thanks for sharing.

Different transmitter types and different modules have various pin arrangements - and those modules that do fit into a transmitter may not necessary WORK with it...!
keven64
Crash, there are subtle differences within, as well...!

I thought as much - 40Mhz. modules to fit this type of transmitter are very hard to find... I was lucky.
