WARNING; Smoking kills..
Ok, so first up, I've cheated a little here. The shell is a Blitzer (which is the same as the rere except the colour and mirror holes) and the suspension is BC.
The end result is the same though, I just couldn't wait for mine to get here. I'll be using parts of the kit when it gets here to finish it anyway..
So back to the car! The idea for this one came to me while i was looking at pics of Australian touring cars from the late 70's.
I found the decals online and then it was on! The body has had a few subtle mods, the front and rear guards have been trimmed and rounded off on the edges to match the shape and profile of the original SS as close as possible. It's not a big difference but it really does improve the look of the front in particular.
Then the running boards were removed and side nerf bars made up out of plastic tube. The rear decklid was also cut and propped open for a different look.
It still needs final detailing and clear-coating, door numbers added, front and rear lights etc and an interior but you get the idea!
Oh and the black wheels are for another project...

Great looking Bug you have put together. R.I.P. to the mountain king 'Peter Brock'. A very cool beach buggy, will it go to the beach?

Thanks guys but the black rims are definately for another project. It'd be wrong if it didn't go to the beach!

Just for the record guys I'm very much a non-smoker but to me it's just one of those classic schemes that reminded me of sitting in front of the TV watching the racing as a kid- and it hadn't been done on a bug so...
