Hi All,
This is my first posting, although I've actually been a 'scribed member for around 2 years now. But all my current fleet are ongoing projects, so many ongoing projects! Trouble is, there is so much fantastic work done & cars here on TC, it motivates me to have a go at so many also.
However, I thought I might share this one with you as I'm definately finally making headway with it.
I traded this Blazer with L-U-K-E toward end of 2008 & it's got nowhere very fast until now.
Meet my newly finished Blazer driver! I'm pretty pleased with him, although he has taken me best part of 2 months of occassional evenings working to finish this guy. I have changed quite a lot on him really. Everything from smoothing off the top of his thighs (too many lumps & bumps on the original), defining his collars, t-shirt, hands. Added a scratch-made 5-point harness, peak to his helmet & the 70's / 80's tinted goggles. Custom painted helmet too. I decided he looked a bit 'rigid' in his stock driving position, so made many cuts to his arms & hands & either inserted styrene wedges or made 'v' cuts, then glued each, cut off & rotated hands, wrists, forearms, until I got him looking more 'involved' in his drive. I've also made a gearshift ready to go in once the rest of the body / interior is painted.
I had to repair a fair peice of the roof, glueing in a new styrene corner, shaping, sanding, etc but it looks pretty un-noticable now, or will once fully painted. I have also made one side piece of the rear part of the roof. I only have repro parts for the sides of the main roof, so may make them scratch from styrene too. I've also had to add some of the screw fixing lugs, one on the roof & one on the underside for the grille bracket to fix back to. I've also re-scribed the door shut lines to the sides. That was the scariest part - one wrong move!!! I've also pain-stakingly removed all remains of previous paint from the body (brake fluid couldn't do any more) & have now primed it.
There's still a lot to be done, final paint, decals, clear coat, interior, grille, chassis to strip, clean, polish, grease, etc, etc. But, I'm happy so far & am determined to get this one at least finished very soon.
One thing though, I just cannot decide on body colour - Black (box art) or Yellow? I'm tempted with the yellow, with black side stripes, as I have another project I want black, but I do like these in black! Any help, comment would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks

Seems midnight blue might be a way to go, and be in the same scheme as the driver's suit.

Thanks Guys for the comments, I really appreciate it. It has taken me far longer than I wanted it to so far, but at least I now know it's been worth it & more than I had thought. L-U-K-E, again cheers for the trade, it's been one I've wanted for a while. Regarding the roof, sorry but I couldn't help myself, had to fiddle, lol.

Guys, many thanks to you all. I'm really amazed so many of you commented & so positively. Only thing is now though, I've now gotta get the body just right too! Hmmm, dark blue - hadn't thought of that, maybe. Although also got a few backing yellow too. Tough decision still but now three colours to think about!
Henk4Focus, thanks for the invite - just need to know how to join?
Jez Thain, thanks for the offer on the stripes, I was going to paint them on but I might take you up if yellow is final.
Will post some more pics when progress moves on.
I love this site, great people too!
oldsterolli

RallyeBaz
WOW - How stunning is that driver. Looking forward to seeing the model finished

Dittos on all the praise. Interesting that you picked the driver to start with - if it were me, the chassis would be calling my name, IMHO, go with yellow, make it stand out, and different too.
slimmy
I think box art red would look fantastic. I'm going box art black with mine. But my driver will not be as nice as this one. Spectacular work on that driver.
SCORCHER KID
very tidy job mate...there a long slog, but pay off in the end, hows the chassis resto going ?
Joe_Cool
Def. a great start for a resto project. Fantastic looking driver here! Hope to see the finished Blazer soon!
Moostar
Hi Scorcher Kid, thanks for the comment, yep a long slog but should be worth it. All the rain we keep having here in the UK is not allowing me to finish painting the body at the mo, so will make a start on the chassis now I think. Stripdown, clean & minor polishing in order but should be pretty straightforward on this & it seems to be all there. Thanks again. I'll post an update sometime soon hopefully.
Moostar
Thanks Joe Cool. I love what you're doing with that Bronco - looking forward to seeing that finished too.
Moostar
Slimmy, thanks for the praise. I'm now definately going Yellow on this now! I do have one coat on but weather is not on my side currently. I usually have to spray outside, then bring straight indoors to let dry but I can't even get out there coz either too dark, cold or too wet! Great British weather!
Cooltoys
Thumbs up for the detailing of the driver.... Great work!
Moostar
Thanks Cooltoys, appreciate it. Sadly, I'm still yet to finish the truck itself. It's nearly there, just final detailing that I can't / don't seem to find the time to finish. Maybe the coming holiday period will give me time. I've got a few project cars on hold currently - need to finish one!
Best wishes to you
mongoose1983
Have you finished the restoration process? I would love to have a look at this Blazer now.
Naxman
Awesome work! The driver looks amazing and the Blazer is coming along quite nicely!
Moostar
Hi Mongoose1983,
Not finished yet sadly. Body is painted, roof nearly finished. Need to paint the rear lights, roof, steering wheel. I also want to modify the rear bumper brackets. I need to source some black side stripes & a black 'Chevrolet' logo for the back. Oh, and still got to restore the chassis! I've just finished work on a Pajero I was detailing so I think this will be the next one to do now.
Thankyou for all the great comments though guys, I will finish this soon.
steman
nice job i like it keep up th good work
Moostar
Thanks steman, it is getting there, very slowly though Work & general life are taking over currently. Body is 99% finished & chassis is being re-assembled little by little when I can make time. This is probably one of the longest resto's on TC
scorcherboy77
...plain awesomeness!!
Moostar
Thanks Scorcherboy77, appreciated!
I'm going to try & finally finish this over the coming weekend, so will hopefully be able to update after then.
Orangemeca
Wow, I miss this one, very nice job, you do a crazy work on the driver. GREAT
Moostar
Thank you Orangemeca, I appreciate your comments & yours is really Superb! Mine's still in need of finishing but I'm not spending too much time on my projects currently - I really must get on with it
