This is my first Tamiya. My daddy bought it for my third birthday. We built it together and I have put some of my own stickers on it. I have left it standard with the 380 motor in it and a Tamiya T101-bk esc, although daddy did ballrace it. I have run it at 2 or three northwest nutter bashes and its ready or a tidy up. Me and daddy bought some red paint (my favourite colour) and we are going to rebuild it again and do it in Lightning Mc queen colours.

You've got me thinking now, my sons 1, I'd love to think at 3 we could build a car together... I love the idea of a lightning McQueen car...

Congrats! I gave my 4 year old a Hornet last year. I bet it would look nice in red.

He genuinely enjoyed doing it too. He did most of the build with me just showing him with dry runs. I just tightened the harder screws and did the diff. I highly recommend doing this with your kids although I think 3 is probably the earliest he could cope. I know adults who struggle more with kit builds

Cpl.Jim & Sgt.Barnes - great build together and thumbs up for the lightening McQueen scheme. My 3 year old still hasn't got past wearing the bodyshells as helmets yet LOL! He does though put my cars on the back of his 'Mack' from 'Cars' truck and take the wheels on and off for me!

Great car Jim, suppose I best get my grandkids some cars for when they are a little older, maybe you can help them build one.

That's awesome! My daughter is 4 yr old. We ran RC's last summer but she still needed my assistance. I hope this summer she'll be able to do it on her own. She's still kind of scared by the speeds the RC's reach...

tamiyaonebay,

With a mechanical speed controller, you can put the wire link in a servo arm hole closer to the shaft - and effectively make the model only two speeds forward and reverse !
