I'm restoring a Manta Ray for a guy I work with and this weekend whilst at a friends, he saw they were about to throw this away. He thought of me and now I have a Grasshopper II!

The box is in really good condition, which I thought bode well for the model. I was, as you can see, wrong.

Although not the best paint job in the world the body is actually quite serviceable, but it will need a new chassis in order to run again properly. As you can see from one of the pictures, the front suspension on the right hand side has been slightly customised :)

Other than that it all seems to be there, even the original tyres are in the box. I don't know if I will be able to save the back wheels as they have had tyres that are too small glued onto them and so now the edges are very rough. We shall see!

Anyway, I'm really pleased to have got my first free Tamiya and with spring and summer coming up hopefully I'll be able to pick up a few more cheap at car boot sales!

Comments, suggestions and offers of cheap parts welcome :D

Looking good... Still not too bad... Starting to go wrong. What have they done to those wheels?! Intact with 540 motor (came with a 380 as well) A little dusty but mostly in one piece It's bodging time!

Wow, teal, one of my most unfavorite colors of all time. Seems it would have been painted in the 90s when Teal was all the rage. I think you did well for bagging this for free though. I will have to look for all the cheap parts I have around here for it. Give me a shout.

Innards look nice and original - free stuff's great isn't it? Nice one, good luck with it!
