Spurred on by a comment by 'Mr Alan' I have finally got around to finishing my MKI Sand Scorcher.

Its certainly my favourite car its not all original, headlights, indicator lenses and stinger are RCGrabBag repro's (before the SS2010 was announced). The Tyres and wheels are GrassHopper Re-Re.

It will make some laugh (others cry) that I paid £80 - £40 each about 18 months ago for (NIP or at least on sprue) the mirrors and indicator buckets! The decals are Tamiya Club decals.
To finish the project I painted the inside of the wheels flat black, painted the running boards black, added aluminium wheel covers, painted the rear engine grill, added the decals (reference Tamiya101.com Sand Scorcher), painted the tyre lettering and finally glued everything on with shoe glue (for easy removal). This all took a lot longer than expected but I am quite please with the finished result. I wanted to shoot it against the new Sand Scorcher 2010 box as I love the box almost as much as the car, I tried to get the model approximately the same angle as the car on the box.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The rere can never look this good, this is the real deal. Dont cry over the mirrors. The rere ones are completely different with a toyish look.

The original SS is a much nicer body shell, and comparing the two mirrors the original ones look real. Lovely SS

When I look at Sand Scorcher models it seems obvious to me that the classic puts the reissue in huge shame.
Your example looks excellent. Painting flat black under the fender will make it perfect. Very few TCers do that. I did it to my beetles and they look more real.
But anyway, your Sand Scorcher looks, oh so good!!
