The Tamiya Tom's Levin kit -

Based on a race-ready version of Toyota's AE101, it has to be another of the big T's stranger choices of subject matter. The 1994 Levin doesn't seem to be a well known vehicle: They never saw North American showrooms, and I've been hard pressed to find info on where/if they were sold outside Japan. There were the similar appearing Corolla/Sprinter liftbacks sold in the European market, and that was about all I could come up with. The only other comparible cars I could find were the North American 'Camry' coupe, and Australian (badge engineered) Holden Apollo! These two particular cars were designated as Toyota's SVX10 model, which apparently is not at all the same as the Levin depicted here, but I couldn't help but notice the similarity between them. Did Toyota give the NA market Camry the Levin's looks with Lexus underpinnings??? Perhaps a strange question, but I ask myself this every time I see this model, lol.

my mate has one. Goes like rocket. They are popular here. All are commonly known here as Jap imports. Other examples would be the Crown read Corolla and the boy racer's favourite, Glanza a tricked out version of the Starlet

It is common in race series for a manufacturer to choose one of its world-wide models because it has an advantageous shape or configuration. That's probably what happened here with Toms and the Levin. Nice NIB by the way!

I thought of many times to accuired this body but just not really into the mundane livery. Howver the recent JTCC builds really get me start thinking LOL~
