Due to the re-release of the SS and the available body sets it's great to see very different schemes of this shell now on TC :-)

I usually wanted to do some practise on this body shell and first had no idea about the scheme.

Then I saw a picture of the Herbie beetle from the 'Love Bug' films the last days. I loved this Disney films when I was a little boy. :-)

So the idea was born!

Herbie goes Buggy Racing ;-)

I think it turned out quite nice :-)
Unfortunately the sun doesn't come out today...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Comments are welcome as always.

Great Bug, love to see these re-re shells with lots of different ideas. Good work... how did you get the thin black lines on the bodywork...? is it trimline..

Yes, I've painted the sunroof with light grey. I used a brush and put on a thick coat of paint to imitate the cloth roof. For the fine black lines I used the Kyosho Micron Tape 0.4mm. The white colour is Tamiya Racing White.

Sweet, I think everybody loves Herbie, nice paint job

Very nicely done. Too many 'Herbie clones' assume that a gray beetle with the number 53 on it = Herbie. So often it doesn't. This though is probably the best one I've seen!
