Ok I have to call it done for now, not sure if it turned out as an apocalypse buggy or just an old tired pile of crap with two weirdos behind the wheel but except for a few tiny details like clamps on roof rack and some minor weathering this is now ready to go outside for formal pictures but since these are not final pictures I'll leave it in extra info until I can get some really good outdoor and action shots with moondoggies help. Thank you so much guys for all the help and hints, as you can see I have used many of your ideas in the final build.

Tired old buggy...still new built lol! badboy suggested door trim removed I still plan to do an engine at some point kind of a pile

If you liked those pictures, you should see these...

This buggy has had an amazing amount of detail and man hours put into it. Its a masterpiece created by an artist. I love it, and seeing your previous outdoor shots I can't wait to see him in action, any chance of a video...

In my oppinion there is no better way to make a model look realistic than recreating wear and tear, dirt and rust. Therefore in my eyes this is the best SS on TC so far.

20-Apr-2010

The license plates are too shiny, other then that it looks perfect to me. So much details to look at - amazing!

No doubt like many here have been waiting to se this one....... Up against this level of modelling prowess, skill, detail and creativity who am I to comment bar to say this is pretty much exactly what a hardlived 30year+ Bug would look like now. I think it works better like this than out and out Apocalypse style. Stupendous work as ever, hope it wins.

WOW!....very very cool. Its awesome from every angle.

20-Apr-2010

Looks ace, fantastic work Wyoming! Just one suggestion though, the front bumper/underguard looks a bit too shiny compared to the rest of it, maybe it needs a dollop of mud

20-Apr-2010

Brilliant! wow amazing weathering you made Seth, directly to my favourites for future reference.

fantastic job on the weathering, the passenger side is awesome..

taliesin

20-Apr-2010

Seth, you've captured the very essence of the baja bug. The missing door trim, bungee cord door latch, and rag in the fuel filler are so classic!! Absolutely cool!

Crash Cramer

20-Apr-2010

Wow, that is cool Seth, two small bits, the screws seem too nice holding the jack on, maybe a little rust?? The Fuel rag is so cool, but it looks a bit brand new, needs some tattiness to it and at least one oil stain. I can't wait to see the engine you put in it, perhaps I have some photos of one you can mimic.

metallifits

20-Apr-2010

The more you look the more details pop-up.. The missing door trim looks gerat!

SB_Aust

20-Apr-2010

Well Done. A realistic pile of cr@p. Some dusk shots with the lights would look great.

mr_pushrod

20-Apr-2010

That looks awesome! Can't wait to see some action shots

gozone

20-Apr-2010

Really nice job there. But wait? No cracked glasses on the lights? And no rusty reflectors inside? Also, the licenseplate in front COULD have been hanging by 1 screw only, making it crooked, and perhaps it could have been slightly bent also. Also, 1 lost hubcap on the rear, and the other one slightly dented would also have been very cool.

Anyway, this is a top-job as usual.. Will be great to see it outside, tearing up the piles of horsemanure.

Cheers..
Michael

Lovin' your work!!

Wyoming

20-Apr-2010

wow thanks guys, yeah it definately has a few little touches left but like most of my models I work in stages, I finish it to a point but never totally finish it so I can revisit it later, if I don't leave things left to do I often get bored of them and this one I've left plenty to add to later i guess since I plan to have it for a long time and work on it from time to time as I like

the green beetle

Alex_037

20-Apr-2010

Fantastic work; makes such a nice change from the cliche 'mint condition' boxart! Although for a car in that condition the lights seem to work pretty well Great stuff!

mor10retro

20-Apr-2010

That's a stunning piece of junk! So many details, the missing door trim is one of the best details. The weathering looks so incredible real. Looking forward to see some outdoor pics.

chewball

20-Apr-2010

Can't add much that has not already been said but WOW!Looks like you have thought of everything from the rust at bottom of the doors to the holes where the missing chrome trim was supose to be. It's one of a kind I would like to make a copy of it but just don't seem to have the heart to go this deep into a project right now..

tynhead

20-Apr-2010

Astounding! Wonderful work. I've seen 1:1's less realistic than this

CASE1

20-Apr-2010

WEIRDOS RULE! Completely great unique build. The green door without chrome strip and alternative handle is the best scale detail I have seen in years, you outdid yourself, great result!
