1967 Corvette Stingray - Part 1
Hi guys,
ever since I bought back my beloved Plymouth Cuda, I had the idea of building a brother for it.
A body was soon found: A HPI Corvette Stingray. So was the colour: Candy Apple red and black.
Got me a used Ferrari F40 Group C chassis off the bay and restored it using new parts. I still had the wheels left from the Mercedes Sauber C11 Kit I used for my Cuda. I put several coats of clear on it, as I didn't like the flat plastic look of them. The tyres were like new, so they stayed. Just used some new tyre decals.
I still like the Cuda better, but I just love the look of that rear end! :-)
Hope you like it, too!
EDIT: I'm now pretty sure I will ditch the sidepipes, as they cheapen the look a bit. Looks cleaner without. Made a quick PS (last picture). I also trimmed the sideskirts and front wing. Let me know what you think. :-)

Although HPI is improving on their bodies, I think there was more potential in this one And my Kyosho version is now down on value, lol! Anyway, very nice paint scheme, lovely to see it on a Gr.C chassis too! Running pictures would be great!

AAh, another great classic american! Very nice although the exhaust is no the best deal in RC bodies. Stance and paint job are wonderfull so overall it is a GREAT looker! I love your muscle cars, you know what to do with 'em!

Thanks Kees! I was back and forward because of the sidepipes. I wanted to leave them away as they looked plain grey in the catalogue. But in fact they are chrome, just like the window trim. So I decided to add them and think they look ok. But I might rip them off sometime and trim the sideskirts...

Its strange sometimes how shells and chassis come together from different companies but this just looks soooooo RIGHT. Well done and a big pat on the back
Dante77
Thanks mate! Very Kind!

Actually I am working on a HPI mustang and did trim the sideskirts beacuase I thought they were going down to deep..... (the mustang does not have pipes ofcourse) These bodies are made to cover the complete chassis probably. Anyway, if the pipes are chrome they may look better in real live than on the pics. I thought the quality of the HPI body and decals is pretty good, close to Tamiya.
Dante77
Kees, I'm pretty sure I will remove the pipes. (see last pic). The decals are exellent quality. Very stretchy and thick vinyl, easy to apply.
