I'm not usually one to go for restorations but when the price is right I'll do them. This Rough Rider turned up today. My dad called me and said he found an old Tamya at a yard sale for $10 and it had metal parts so I was super excited to see it, hoping for a Bruiser but this was just as exciting when he handed it to me. Thanks dad you made a heck of a yard find here for $10. It is only missing a few small parts like front shock but some re-re parts will have this up and running in no time. Just needs some love and a few hours of work ;)

$10 well worth it I think I don't usually restore but this will be easy nasty old electrics will go lol! bottom looks good what a rat nest I have bad memories of resistors this was with it a re-re shell will be needed I think

I won't say what I'm planning but that may not be far off the mark lol! Yes I've showed what to look for on RC cars and he finds a few a year in his junk hunts

WOW! Isn't the going price for just one rear tire about $10? I love yard sales and finding Tamiya RC's at them...although this has only happened to me once...cheers!

Wow and wow again. We have a rubbish tv show here in the UK called bargain hunt where 2 teams search for bargains at a car boot sale to sell on and make a profit. Your dad should apply he'd win hands down......... Oh and WOW again Think I'd scrap the electrics put on a rere shell and simple run it as is.....WOW!!!!

Nice find for $10. It's funny thinking of what this would go for on the Bay. I'm headed out to an antique mall today, hoping I get lucky too.

thanks guys my dad is quite good at finding deals, but its always extra nice when its something I'm also interested in. As for 'restoration' I say that lightly since I won't fix anything that doesn't need it, I just replace whats broken install bearings if needed, give it modern electrics, fresh lube, and it will be good to go. I don't polish them or bling them I just want to see them come back to life and go run them. The hard part will deciding on how I want it to look and since old and weathered is my preferred look right now I'm guessing that will be a strong possibility

Could be the best bargain of 2010 on TC here. Nice place to start and you could just make some fix to the front with styro sheet and create your own look, then maybe add a custom bumper to the front, sort of 'cageish'

lol, it might have been Chris but I bought $150 worth of re-re parts for it from JR-RC but I sold the original electrics and radio box for $13 so when I'm done I'll have a like new buggy for apx $180 which seems to be about what this would have sold for on ebay if I had just let it go like this.

Nice find. Just noticed the radio is on 72MHz, so that's illegal LOL (needs to be 75 for surface models in USA!). It's a MK2 RR. Try some Novus Plastic Polish #2 on the radio box (or get a new one LOL). Always good to see RR's when the pictures are good quality. Thanks for sharing! Cheers, Alistair G.
