A challenge from a friend and a compulsive disability
I have been collecting spare parts for years and recently (well a couple of years ago) a good friend of mine, who is a Tamiya world champion challenged me to collect all parts to 300. This isn't actually as easy as it sounds, the requirements included original early packing (there are many parts still in production now from this series, but they are in modern packaging, this wasn't allowed) so that meant (mostly) orange tab tops from Tamiya (not disties) and the odd green tap top (Holiday Buggy) brown (B2B I think) and of course non packeted things, like bodysets (only boxed originals would do) and wheel sets (again boxed originals) motors (Technigold, Power and Tuned are actually Spare Parts, not Hop Ups, Dynas are considered Hop Ups). I already had a head start, but I acquired quite a few parts, but never noted what I bought and already had, which led to a few duplications and a few things also appear missing on first count (although I haven't managed to get to all my parts boxes to check yet)
This is the collection of organised ones so far (although it doesn't look very organised) and I already had loads of motors, especially Technigolds (not all in the picture) and Dynas (most of them are in the picture) from before. I seem to acquire them accidently as well, in a collection of parts, say for a new build Porsche 959 which hasn't been done yet. Plus I also got a lot of spare parts from the chap in question to help start things off. There are a few extremely rare parts, like the Lotus 79 (which isn't in the picture, actually none of the bodysets are, but I am pretty sure I have them all) and some of the decal sheets in original tab top packing are so rare, people I know who are experienced have never seen them. I have my bodysets and decals somewhere else, so this is mostly spares, motors and wheels that fit into the original 1-300 category, plus I am most of the way to 500 already. There are way over 1000 spare parts here :)
Incidently, I forgot to mention on the first edit, there are a few anomolies, for example, the boxed Tyrrell Wheels are Spare parts 9 & 10, which doesn't correspond to Roby's list (I am investigating this) and some part numbers appear incorrectly, for example, I have two sets of mint numbers 7014 and 7015 which came in the same original Tamiya shipping box, but also identical 70014&70015 on the identical parts. If you check out picture 2, you will see these parts, number face up, they are the collection of green racing tyres in the third row, fronts and rears.
