I had no idea that these kits were so amazing! I don't know anything about building a real car but I felt like I just did. The chassis' are absolutely brilliant in construction and design (they also weigh a ton). The body is amazing too, although I wish Tamiya had supplied a clear window instead of the tinted one. The color I chose is Gun Metal and I painted over all the flashy chrome with Flat Black. I'm really not feeling the chrome so I also swapped out the rims for some Hummer ones. I wanted to minimize decals so I just threw on some I had from a Japanese Drift set. At this point I'm scared I might sell my collection to get more of these:)

Way hey hey !!!! what a beauty. Everyone says the same about these kits. My wife is going to shoot me when I put one on next years Christmas list, especially coz I can't even find the time finish my SS. Great work, liking the flat black a lot.
TIMECMDR
Great looking truck Ted, excellent job, I like your idea of the black wheels and stealthy kind of look forward to seeing this in some nice vidoes now!
MetBoy
Oh baby!, without the manga in the background you would be forgiven for thinking this is real! Ted, I love it, and I want one!! C..
mad-rc-driver
Very nice truck!!!
Henk4Focus
Nice Yota Ted. You can get clear 'glass' from RC4WD. These just need slightly bigger wheels IMHO.
Davecul
The Kanji (if it is Kanji) looks fantastic on it, could be a replica from a manga series. Chronohilux Apocalypse IX or something similarly named
Singleseven
Worth every drop of blood you shed; nice one.
Singleseven
oh and if you do sell your collection Ted please can I have first dibs on your FAV?
HOPPIN MAD 74
Nice job Ted, really stunning!!! Am I jealous? YES lol!!!
tamiyaonebay
Thanks for the comments guys! @SRB Bloke....If I win the lottery before Christmas I'll need your mailing address. @TIMECMDR....Ha, 'stealthy' is a great way to describe it, a run in the night got cut short because it was too dark to see it. I will have videos of it as soon as I can! @MetBoy....The background are magazines called Hobby Japan. They're packed with pictures of toys and everything else Japanese. @Henk4Focus....Yeah I checked out that site and seen the clear glass, thanks for the scoop! @Davecul....You're right about it being Kanji to the best of my knowledge. If there's anyone that can translate I'd be super stoked! @Singleseven....My hand still hurts! Note to self: Be very careful not to stab yourself in the hand w/screwdriver. @HOPPIN MAD 74....I wonder how an army of grasshoppers would feel about a 3 Speed. They might turn out to be the jealous ones.
slimmy
Very nice toyota! I agree with henk4focus. these look better with bigger tires. NIce work
pininy
I like the colour!!! Nice Work! something for a change... 天下统一!
tamiyaonebay
@slimmy & Henk4Focus....Yeah I agree and have always thought about that. Or at least I think they look a little odd because of the lift. Honestly though ever since I finished building this everything has grown on me.
pininy
天下统一 - Unification, normally used in the old days... where samurais and ninja still exists ...
tamiyaonebay
@pininy....Thanks so much for that info!
Tobbe70
Looks great, love the color!!
Swarm
Yeah they are a pretty amazing kit and like you said heavy.
You did an amazing job mate it looks excellent I like the matt bumper as well .
I agree with the windscreen but I think they did it so it hides all those nasty MFC wires.
japper7
now get out there and make it muddy lol. waterproofing is a must. then you can have some realy fun without the big strip down after every run. just wash it like a real 1/1 . save loads of time. paint looks cool. looking alot like my m8s yota. post the pics off your first run. cant beat a yota........
MonsterYeti
these are great fun to build and drive
JWeston
Good work One day I'll have a crack at one of these
ImRCDad
WOW!!!! Simple and Sweet! Love this build!
mr_pushrod
Loving the flat black and the gunmetal is a great colour choice. I have to admit that although I loved building the chassis on mine, the shell was an absolute nightmare!
highflyer
Top work my friend!
neobrunox
Congrats tamiyaonebay, your hilux is very nice with this paint scheme
Dam 10
That looks brilliant... I wish i had one.
Sort of reminds me of the one at the end of back to the future...
Tamiyamandan
Looks GREAT......Oh and If you do sell anything in your collection...Let me know !!!!! LOL
3SPD REKR
Great work brother. I chose the same color for my Bruiser resto - see my Sand Hog. I wanted a flashier color first, but really liked the gunmetal. Would like to get our 3 speeds together for some posing - old and new out in the dunes.
tamiyaonebay
Thanks for all the comments! @Swarm....Yeah I'm starting to see the light with why the tinted window. I actually think it suits my color scheme well too! @japper7....Waterproofing does seem like the way to go. I was inspired through TC member itcrahsed who has an awesome looking Toyota. Possibly the mate your are talking about? @mr_pushrod....I'm feeling you on that nightmare. I think the toughest part about the body was working with glue without getting it all yucky. @3SPD REKR....Sounds like a plan although there's not really any dunes where I live
thebicyclejungle
Sweet truck!
Naxman
