This has probably been one of my quickest builds (although still slow by most standards!). I've always toyed with the idea of building a truggy but because of lack of time etc it's never happened. Then Axial released their Honcho kit. Hello instant/easy truggy!

All I was after with this was a good, reliable, competent basher but I really dislike polycarb bodies. So out of the spares cupboard came an original Hilux body that was looking pretty second hand. I'm sure it could have easily been restored but I had other ideas (sorry purists!). I did the minimum of repairs to make it solid then proceeded to make it look like a well weathered truck.

The use of the Hilux body meant that I had to shorten the wheelbase to keep things looking right. I also added a Hand Bros. steering kit. I still have heaps of detailing I want to do but I was busting to get it out on the rocks and wow do they perform well!! I think I have a new favourite runner...

Absolutely love it. You've done exactly what I had in mind when I first saw the Honcho kit come out - stick a 'lux body on it. You've made a damn site better job of it than I would have though lol.

Cool, snow in Australia! Very nice landscape, car and pictures. I'm using solar power to write this and hope that you will have some decent winters down there in the future.

I'm about as south as you can get in Australia so it's more of a European climate down here, frost and snow included..

Very nice looking truck, last year at scale nats about half the rigs were Hilux truggies on various axles and frames but with the arrival of the Honcho it really looks just as good as any of those custom welded frame turggies I saw last year. nice work.

After seeing your recent tutorial, I had to check out your original post on this truck. Excellent work and I have no idea how I missed it earlier. I really like the pre-runner setup on these pics. Great shots too. I'm inspired.
