Hi Gents

This is my Tamiya Black Porsche 934 (Original 58001 - Black Special Edition). Has to be one of Tamiyas most beautiful and certainly rarest and most iconic of cars.

Car was brought over from Japan by Rob Smith and owned then by Mark Johnson until I became caretaker of it this week - thanks gents for all your help with her.

Taken the bones of below from Lars famous review in Tamiyabase:

The Black Porsche 934 was released by Tamiya to celebrate the sale of 100,000 of is original 934 (58001) in 1976. The Black car was only available in Japan as a limited edition and believed not to be distributed through normal channels but only used as a give-away and for special promotion towards special customers, racers and other Tamiya affiliates.
The car wasn't given a kit number. NIB cars are obviously rare and sought after but I believe few built models exist and in varying conditions. Tamiya did not produce spare parts for this car so spares are impossible to find.

All of the aluminum plates for the chassis are anodized black. The parts themselves are the same as the 58001. The motor in the black kit is a RS380, slightly longer and more powerful than the 360 in the 58001. The MSC is part number 50010MSC (First used in the 58002 Porsche 935). The front bumper is again from the Porsche 935 and marked 'Made in Japan'. The body set is Black plastic with no markings on it (the 58001 has markings). The Black Porsche is, however, marked 'Made in Japan' inside the front bumper just like the 58001. Window class is tinted.

This car has slight wear/age marks to the chassis, outside of the body has been painted matt black (which looks awesome) and inside left bare plastic. Boot and bonnet open as no to very little glue inside - think the doors will also but haven't tried too hard. Wheels have been painted gloss black (funnily just like some of the top end 1:1 cars nowadays so someone back then had vision. Came with a minty build manual which is specific to the Black Porsche, outer box, inner parts box, spare decals, and spurs with some unused body parts as the same spurs were used for the original static kit, a canvas bag that you can put the box into
and a vintage handset to pair with electronics in the car.

Extremely delicate body set so not surprised few survived - has my lucky number 7 lol.

Hope you like and hope above detail gives a bit of an insight into the history and rarity of the car.

Super stoked to own her...at last.

Few shots with a few old friends also

Looks great, and fascinating to see a really good built example and to have some of the information behind this very special model. I hadn’t realised that this one had a slightly larger motor, and used the SP.10 MSC from the 935, Tyrell P34, XR311 and B2B.
