I know it's not a Tamiya (my only non-Tamiya RC car), but these things are so good for the money! I got this last year new for £140 in a sale delivered from China. I then added the lighting kit, primed and painted the body, added a driver figure, tyre lettering, and the Tamiya decals from the Hilux Hi-lift kit.
There were a few loose nuts and bolts here and there, but nothing too bad. The quality is actually pretty good, and way better than I thought it would be. The 3-speed gearbox works really smoothly too.
Yeah, it's not a Bruiser or Mountaineer, BUT for that money....

Yeah these are a absolute bargain! I see a few people are doing the Bruiser boxart on them! That's one way to afford a Bruiser!
How is the build quality up close?
and have you had a go yet to see what its got?

Thanks James, yeah I thought about doing the Bruiser boxart, but I thought I'd go more down the Moutaineer route as I like a red truck! I can't compare it to the Bruiser/Mountaineer as I've never seen the kit up close, but against the usual high Tamiya parts quality you can see areas where corners have been cut, but it's really not that far off. I haven't pulled it all apart, and I'm sure if I did I'd see where cost has been driven out. There is some slack in the differentials, the metal castings and machining are nothing like an Avante! BUT it's exceptional value for money. It's not £700 worse than a Bruiser I'm pretty sure! It came RTR with the radio gear, but I decided to bin the LiPo battery! It looked really low cost, and there's no way I was going to risk burning my house down for it!!
If you're even slightly tempted, you really can't go wrong, and I believe that it's such a good clone, that the Tamiya parts are all interchangeable.
I'll add some close up pics with the shell off so you can see more detail. Cheers, Phil
