This is the very first model made by the Swedish manufacturer. They made more advanced cars later on (with yellow and blue plastic parts). These pan cars were solid, but a bit heavy. They typically did good in wet conditons, but not that well in the dry. Notice the viking in the logo, the later models were typically named something with 'Viking'.

I was told this very car was the first prototype, but that's hard to verify. It looks the same as the production car.

It was very crude when I got it, it came from Arnes museum in Sweden.

A good friend 3D printed wheel adapters for it, so I could glue and true the tires. That alone made it looks so much better. Those tires are from 1977 - so that's 48 years old! They were uneven and hard like icehockey pucks - so I didn't have much faith in them being salvable. But - they glued together just fine, and after trueing them down in size it smells like fresh rubber! :-)

Then I cut out the bodyshell better, this looked from the factory like it had been done with a dull pair of scissors. After that i painted the windows, lights, grille.
The bodyshell is a Saab 99 Turbo.

I also cut down and rounded the bumpers. Lowered the whole body.

Made a custom wing with wire mounts.

A friend in Sweden had original stickers, of which he did a scan. This I then sent to a friend in Norway who scanned, traced and cut out custom vinyl decals for me.

I think it looks a lot better now - kinda like a hillclimb monster.

I did own a Saab 9-5 Estate for 18 years, I loved that car. I had it lowered and chip tuned (turbo) - was very fast indeed! The tuning was done by Speedparts in Uddevalla, Sweden. I actually blew up the whole engine once. After called the tuning guys I was given an address deep in the Swedish woods. There I got the a whole new engine for a ridicilously low price :-)

Thx for looking and comments are always welcome! :-)

A childhood dream car, that I remember seeing in the local (swedish) hobby magazine ads. I'd love to own a Carlsson, or even see a real one, that would be cool. You've done a good job on the body. Thanks for showing it.

A real swedish wiking!
